Freshly Pressed Creative Tools

The unveiling of the new iPad earlier this week turned my attention back to tablets, a craving for big multi-touch screens that had been forgotten for the longest time. The new iPad, dubbed “The new iPad” (not iPad 3, iPad HD, or whatever else other people had started calling it prior to its announcement) has got one thing that a lot of people have been waiting for: Retina Display. And, what better use for the Retina Display? (other than the obvious gaming and HD movie needs) Photoshop!

Here’s a preview of the newly released Photoshop Touch for the iPad, for (almost) all your design and graphic art needs:

Now there is (almost) no more excuse not to be creative visually. Design away!

Love is in the Area!

This month, it’s all about love, love, love, with a spice of bitterness and hate here in Area 2 Clothing. Now that Valentine’s day is just a few days away, couple shirts have started being thrown back and forth our clients.

Celebrate the love you share by wearing an original couples shirt designed by Area 2 Clothing. Here’s a preview:

Notice something different with our shirt?

And, consistent with the concept of personalization, you can change the color of the shirt to something that fits your taste, or recommend some tweaks to the actual design (like being specific and adding a name — or a picture).

Make your special someone feel extra special this month.

Design inspiration: Droids!

I love geeking out so much that sometimes I think I’m the type who would chase after imaginary friends rather than go out with some real ones. I feel like those Storm Troopers who relentlessly looks for a couple of droids, even if it means going to another desolate planet or something.

Luckily for me, I can just use google. I found these very interesting images done by the artist Chris Gerringer at www.paperbeatsscissors.blogspot.com.

On a similar note, since everybody loves the “Angry Birds Everything” theme (which is SO last year), here’s one:

these are not the droids you are looking for, but pun-ny nonetheless

This is part of a series of design inspirations that we find while neglecting our social life and scourging the internet instead.

Design inspiration of the day: the art of Vinicius Quesada

I’m just loving the works of Vinicius Quesada, mostly because his art is filled with texture while maintaining the overall look not so hard to the eye. This is a feat some artists finds hard to achieve — applying tedious details in so many elements while not losing focus on the emphasis.

Design inspiration of the day: the works of Alphonse Mucha

Today we’re looking back in history to find some very interesting inspirations from one of the visually stunning movements in art: Art Nouveau. And I guess there’s no contest when we say that one can not talk about art nouveau without talking about one of its most celebrated artist, Alphonse Mucha.

Here is a slideshow of some of his works:
